The weather’s cooling, the mosquitoes have retreated, the trees are colorful and the cider is flowing! It’s fall. Don’t be sad that summer’s gone. There’s so much to love about where we are right now. Here’s our list of the five coziest things you can do to enjoy this gorgeous season:
TAKE A HIKE
Fall is the perfect time to linger outdoors and get a little exercise while you’re at it. Throw on a sweater. Grab your boots. And don’t forget your camera. Then head out for a hike (or a long walk!) and take in the vibrant, fall colors while you breathe in the crisp, cool air.
MAKE CREAMY, BUTTERNUT SQUASH SOUP
For some reason, fall just screams, “MAKE SOME SOUP!” to me. Anyone else? And the smooth ones just feel so decadent. Check out this vegan butternut squash soup recipe: it’s velvety, with coconut milk and a kiss of maple syrup!
GIVE THE GIFT OF WARMTH
You might be rooting through your winter coats soon. Take some time to go through your sweaters and gloves and scarves too. Then donate whatever you won’t wear to a local homeless shelter. Or maybe you want to spoil someone right in your own house. Surprise them with ultra fluffy sleepers or a new robe. It’ll make crawling out of bed in the morning that much easier!
SIP SOMETHING BY THE FIRE
Whether you’ve got a fire pit in your backyard or fireplace in your living room, now’s the time to kindle one. It’s getting chilly at night, so pour yourself some vino or hot cider and cozy up by the fire with people you love. Bonus points for pulling out your guitar … or a putting on a nice Pandora playlist!
INDULGE IN A PUMPKIN-Y DESSERT
If you haven’t already had your fill of pumpkin spiced lattes, why not head to the bakery for a pumpkin donut, pumpkin bread or try out that oatmeal chocolate chip pumpkin cookie recipe?
